4120 Luella Lane, Auburn Hills, Mich

Automotive and mobile seat manufacturer Recaro North America Inc. has moved into a new headquarters in Auburn Hills ahead of plans to begin manufacturing a line of automotive seats from the facility in 2008.

The North American arm of Kirchheim, Germany-based Keiper Recaro Group moved this month into a 108,350-square-foot facility at 4120 Luella Lane from its former home on Lapeer Road.

The company manufactures two lines of child seats as well as aftermarket motor-sports seats, commercial vehicle seating and marine and office chairs in Auburn Hills.

It plans to also add production of automotive seats for OEM customers most likely during the first six months of 2008, Reinhardt said. She declined to name the specific automakers involved in the new contracts.

Recaro's existing customers include Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., Porsche, Aston Martin and Ferrari, according to the company's Web site. Recaro's worldwide sales for 2006 were $1.93 billion, Reinhardt said. Recaro has been in Auburn Hills since December 2000.
